Krull Park to Receive $50,000 Grant as Part of
Coca-Cola America Is Your Park Campaign
This summer, people from across the country cast votes for their favorite park to win big in the Coca-Cola America Is Your Park campaign. At the end of the heated, six-week contest, Olcott’s beloved Krull Park beat out more than 16,000 others for second place and a $50,000 recreation grant from the Coca-Cola Live Positively initiative. The grant will be presented in a ceremony on October 26 and will be used to rebuild a basketball court.
The spirited competition among national, state and local parks sparked community support with park events, vote-a-thons and more. Through these efforts, supporters helped Krull Park receive more than 21 million votes online and via foursquare.
Parks are the anchors of our communities. They provide places for friends, families and neighbors to be active and enjoy the outdoors together. However, in recent years, funding for parks has fallen short of operating and maintenance costs – causing many to fall into disrepair or even close. That’s why Coca-Cola is awarding hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to improve parks this summer.
